Yes, Hardcore punk.
I'll check both of those in a little bit.
Any particular albums?

As far as hardcore punk goes, I liked Cerebral Ballzy's LP.
It's only 20 minutes long so i'd say it's worth checking out.

Zen Arcade for Husker Du, and Damaged by Black Flag since those are the most cited from them.

At the Drive In is Post-Hardcore, but they're still good. Relationship of Command is their most popular album.

Do you want hardcore as in 80's first gen, or stuff like Defeater and Converge?

As for Black Flag, Nervous Breakdown EP and Damaged.
You might also wanna check out the Minutemen and Bad Brains.

I kinda liked some of their stuff, but for the most part, I couldn't either.

Check out Minor Threat too. That's kind of required.

If you mean just hardcore, you could always check out The Ghost Inside, Your Demise and Stick To Your Guns. Evergreen Terrace is also pretty good. They started out as a cover band, but they do original material now.

It's sounding like the difference between Shoegaze and Nugaze, the fact that it's new. Though most Shoegaze fans don't call Nugaze a real genre

Hardcore punk is just punk but heavier and faster.
Like the Ramones being your traditional punk; while the Dead Kennedys are more in the hardcore side of things.
Which I believe is what makes other types of music 'hardcore', being heavier than it's main style.

Hardcore is just a general term.
Like heavy metal.
People just say metal.

I was under the impression hardcore was a different genre from the way people make it out.

I would say it's more of a characteristic of the music.

Also, I think this thread would be better off being a list of stuff people just recommend others to listen to.

I thought this was supposed to be like that thread on UG where people post a band/genre and ask for recommendations?

It could be like that.
I think I'll just take the things people recommend and organize them in a list.
