I think in season 3, they picked chapters that actually would fit together instead of just throwing chronological chapters together like: "well chapter 17 and 32 are both about the beach, let's make them one episode" instead of "well chapter 18 doesn't have anything to do with chapter 17, but that's just what happens next in the manga."
If you compare the first 3 seasons like the first 3 Zelda games, it kind of makes sense
First game/season: established the series, has flaws, but lays basic groundwork of the series
Second game/season: giant overhaul, drastic changes to style and layout and fans weren't exactly pleased
Third game/season: due to negative response to second game/season, overall went back to basic style of the first game/season, but incorporated some of the positively responded aspects of second game/season.
