The old kerry king signature, came with a set of emgs, a kahler and a neck through construction its discontinued now but can be bought for as little as 350 usd. Really sweet guitar if all you plan on is playing metal.

I don't use trems anyway, but Kahlers do their job correctly, which is stay in tune when you're using it.

I don't like Kahlers too because changing strings and setting them up is too much work. But i like them more then floyds.

I might acually buy a KFK signitue if my band starts giging and I have the extra money, my les paul is a back shattering 26+ lbs. I know it doesn't seem like much but when your headbanging it gets heavy fast. Id probably just end up grabbing a used viper 401 because they are dirt cheap and consistantly well made guitars.

If you're gonna buy an LTD Viper, you might as well just buy an Epiphone SG since that's really what the Viper is.

Well what else do you expect from their prices? I never really found an LTD or ESP I liked. They all just feel like Gibson copies except with slightly pointier edges.

The viper isn't as good as the eclipse but for what is available in the $500/600 dollar range new its really hard to beat those guitars for what they do. Then when you remember your spending $300 dollars max for any guitar and your primary genre is metal its a pretty good instrument. I've played on dozens of these guitars no sharp edges, decent sustain and tone its a pretty nice guitar. Is it versitile? Not really but I'm not really looking for versitility so I am ok with it, also you can get them with duncans in this price range too.

I wasn't commenting on their versatility, I just think LTD's sound terrible and I'd rather have an Epiphone since that's really what most LTD's are is just a slightly misshapen Epiphone guitar. I also think there are better metal guitars out there.

Though you're also talking to a guy who bought a Vox amp based on its clean channel.
