Bass tone

I just saw this video of Periphery...my gawd that tone. Even though it is very tuned down, he still has an amazing tone.

I always liked Justin Chancellor's bass tone from Tool:

Don't you mean 4:30? I do like his tone, it's beefy, with a bit of a warm touch with that little bit at the top. I would have just liked a little bit more mids. Too connect that solid bass and the tops. I think I'm going to check this song out, it reminds me A Perfect Circle.

No other bassists here that want to share their thoughts and opinions on tone?

When playing bass be bassin.

I like the low end alot more in bass, though all the high end wankery stuff can still be cool and add to the music

Listen I like my lows, hell if I can't feel my playing then it's not low enough. But I do like a little mids and tops to get definition in my notes.

I totally get that, i'm like that too.

I like playing around with my tone as I play different songs in different environments. Helps me to figure out the kind of sound I want to go for. I'm currently still in the experimental phase when it comes to my tone. Sometimes I'll boost the highs and mids a bit more and play higher up to get almost a guitar sound.

I basically have 3 mane bass tones

1.Bass
2.Slap
3.Tapping wankery

My bass amp sucks for slapping though, it gets all farty, i really need new one
