Meh, I don't see it as that big of a problem with it being big. Plus everything works nicely compared to some of our older layouts.

Unless you're comparing to UG's font/avatar size.
Even then, UG forums is squished compared to most.
What we have here is pretty much the size of all the other forums I frequent/used to frequent.
