Do you think that high priced drum kits are really worth the price they pull along?

I used to own a standard kit with 2 crashes, it cost me around £700 and sounded better than my friend's gigging set which cost £2000...

I mean of course they will sound alot better than cheaper ones, but everything in the market is overpriced.
